Sophie’s First Christmas
By miranda | December 28, 2008
Sophie is now officially on the solid food bandwagon after a festive season of trying turkey and sucking on a rib bone (beef, of course). We’re really just giving her tastes so far, not nearly enough to be a meal replacement. She has become so very interested in everything we eat and drink so it’s fun to let her try a few things. She’ll also drink out of a water glass if we let her get her hands on it. With help she only drbbles a little.
We had a great Christmas, with Simon in town it meant the whole family was here to enjoy it (minus Jenny, though. Simon should shortly be joining her in Wales, bringing our Christmas greetings with him). Sophie also got to see her Grandmere Rachelle earlier in the month when we all made a last-minute trip to Ottawa mid-December. She was a source of joy to all who got to see her lovely smile on that trip. She really does grin a lot lately, in such a way that it is almost impossible not to grin back. She also has a nice throaty laugh when she chooses to use it. Her mobility is ever-increasing, on Christmas day we saw her move first one hand and then the other forward in such a way that we call crawling. She’s also learned to just flop forward if she wants to reach a toy that is in front of her. Her Christmas presents included her first-ever lego set, an alphabet mat, some gorgeous wooden blocks and several books, including a homemade one of nursery rhymes.
I’ve just uploaded a few more pictures to the December album. I have also resized some of the existing ones so that they view a little bit better in the browser window. Enjoy!
We hope you all had a fun Christmas too, surrounded by loved ones as we were.
